ABOUT THE PROJECT:

We were asked to pitch a title sequence character design and animation for the recently aired TV Series, Downward Dog, competing alongside the creative folks at GiantAnt and Oddfellows. The creative brief wanted the title sequence to focus on tracing the emotional arc of the Human/Dog relationship throughout history for 60,000 years in a very minimal and expressionist illustrative style while staying true to the characters' looks. Diving in our history books, we highlighted the relationships formed within the periods from the  Stone Age, Medieval Battles, to the Old West and current day.  Had lots of fun getting back to the drawing board illustrating environments and characters of beautiful actress Allison Tolman and her companion Martin in a contemporary vain inspired by cubism and loose brush forms of Kurt Vonnegut.

Unfortunately, the briefed creative didn't make the cut with the channel, and the show used a title type design instead. I look forward to revisiting this pitch to create a walking cycle for these two best friends conquering the world together.
