ABOUT THE PROJECT:
I was approached by Animal Media Group to both design and layout a new memoir written by Filipp Velgach. The author was a Russian translator on location for the documentary of Almost Holy, filmed in Mariupol, Ukraine with Animal's film crew. Almost Holy is a film about a pastor working against all odds to rehabilitate drug addicted children. In this memoir Filipp shares his experience and the danger him and the crew faced during the countries critical political crossfires.
The illustrations reflect the stories symbolically while carrying aesthetic influences of the Soviet Union's propaganda historic bold design and signature.
